Within Walls - In this series Rachel studies a range of buildings from beach huts to stately
homes and although the starting points for these works are actual places, she
consciously removes the peripheral views that would set the buildings in
context. In doing this she establishes a starting point for her audience to
connect to the piece through personal identification. As a result the audience
can feel that they recognise the place by searching their own ‘memory archives’
for a connection. The actual place thenceforth becomes irrelevant and the
artwork’s significance becomes directly linked to the individual and their own
experiences.
A number of pieces within this collection are available for purchase, please email info@rachel-grant.com for further details or follow the weblinks provided.
